"I have a belief there are many elements that create a singer, not only the possession of an attractive voice! Australia has a rich and diverse arts environment however; it is not solely guided by the traditional "European system". A singer needs to be flexible, versatile and open to new repertoire. I believe a teacher and mentor should aim to produce a singer who can work in Australia and internationally in a variety of musical and theatrical styles. This is the focus of my studio and my personal aim: to be a singer and produce singers who sing with a love of what they are creating, who sing with healthy voice, are open to all styles of music and have a passion for diverse performance practice of the highest standard. Eskies and Opera 2020 Postponed.

A message from Helen (Producer of Eskies)

"Sadly, due to the uncertainty of the impact of Corona Virus and after a lot of consideration, I have decided to postpone Eskies & Opera.  I am concerned for the well being of Eskies & Opera patrons and our marvellous performers.  I am hopeful that we may be able to reschedule towards the latter part of the year when we are better able to assess the situation."

Edward and Richard- New Chamber Opera.

There is an up and coming young composer to keep an eye out for, His name is Alexander Voltz and he is currently writing Edward and Richard a Chamber Opera for …..ME!

In his words” This chamber opera is based on the true story of the Princes in the Tower.

Photo By John Everett Millais It's the year 1483.

The Princes - Edward and Richard, the eldest sons of the late King Edward IV - have been arrested and imprisoned in the Tower of London by their uncle Richard, Duke of Gloucester. Uncle Richard eventually becomes King Richard III, whom Shakespeare wastes no time immortalising as evil. In the weeks following his accession, the Princes have vanished without a trace.

All the while, their mother, Elizabeth Woodville, prays for their safe return. She was once Queen of England; now, Richard III sees her as little more than a feeble widow. But it is Elizabeth's strength, courage and duty to her sons that enlighten us as to what really happened to the Princes in the Tower...”

I will be performing the role of Elizabeth Woodville.

Alexander has an impressive group of people on his team. Michelle Carey comes straight off directing the Laramie Project to direct Edward and Richard, and I am thrilled to again work with Actor and Choreographer, Brian Lucas who performs the role of John. (He is keeping me on the straight and narrow with the narration of the show). Wayne Brennan is on break from Queensland Symphony Orchestra to take on the position of Concert Master. The Opera will be conducted by Orchestral Conductor, Educator, Father to a brilliant young composer and overall musical extraordinaire Dr Bradley Voltz.
